WHEAT RIDGE, CO, February 06, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Whether you are building a new house or if you are just updating your old kitchen, there is no doubt that your kitchen cabinets are a major part of your kitchen. Hiring the appropriate contractor to install your kitchen cabinets is a necessity. But prior to your kitchen cabinet installer showing up, there are plenty of things that you can do to get your kitchen ready for those new cabinets.

The following pieces of advice will not only make the job easier on your kitchen cabinet installer, but it may also speed the entire process up as well:

- All wiring and plumbing should be completed before your kitchen cabinets are installed. Make sure that if you are doing this yourself or hiring someone else that the timelines do not coincide.

- All flooring should wait until after your kitchen cabinets are installed. Taking this step will ensure that you don't order too much flooring and that your flooring won't get ruined as the cabinets go in.

- Make sure the walls behind where the cabinets will go are smooth, level and clean.

- Repair any holes in the wall leftover from your old cabinets.

- Double check the location of the cabinets that you want installed. Make sure that all of the cabinets will be easily reachable and useful. You would hate to learn that you don't have complete range of motion with all your doors and drawers once the cabinets are already in place.

- Be sure to cover your remaining kitchen appliances with sheets, towels, etc., so that they do not get damaged or dinged during the cabinet installation.

- Be on hand during the installation if possible, and if the contractor allows. You never know what problems or questions may come up, and by being around if needed the job will go more smoothly.
