/24-7PressRelease/ - May 17, 2008 - The Diabetic Foundation will host a private screening of "Sex and the City" with a VIP reception and silent auction, in Aventura on June 1st. Through the cooperation of AMC Theatres and the Aventura Mall, the Diabetic Foundation is combining the premiere of the long-awaited movie along with a special post-viewing party.

In the stadium-style seats of the AMC 24 Aventura Theatres, the event will begin with a special viewing of the film, based on the popular HBO television series, followed by a "Cosmos and Champagne" reception where guests can bid on items that tie into the film's theme, but have a decidedly South-Florida flavor; particularly dresses, jewelry and shoes by popular Miami-based designers. During the VIP reception, attendees dressed as their favorite "Sex and the City" characters can mingle and watch episodes of the television show on plasma screens. More details about the event and the mission of the Diabetic Foundation are available on the charities website http://www.diabeticfoundation.org.

The "Sex and the City" screening and silent auction event will be the first of two fundraisers the Foundation will be producing this summer, which has generated quite a bit of excitement within the organization. "As a father of two little girls, caring for the needs of children comes naturally to me," said Joseph Haber, president of the Diabetic Foundation. "But as a person who is currently living with the disease, it has always been a very personal issue for me. My mission with the Diabetic Foundation is not only to raise funds but to really raise awareness in the community about the daily difficulties that thousands of South Florida children face who are suffering from this disease."

To learn more about the event sponsors, for additional information on the Silent Auction, to donate an item to the Silent Auction or to inquire about ticket availability, contact Maxine Haber or visit http://www.diabeticfoundation.org.

About The Diabetic Foundation:
In 2006, the Diabetic Foundation was formed, a non-profit organization designed specifically to benefit underprivileged South Florida families whose children are suffering from juvenile diabetes. The Diabetic Foundation's focus is to write grants directly to the affected families. The average family gets $1200 a year in assistance, $100 per month for 12 months. This allows families to afford diabetic medication, medical appointments and various diabetic supplies. Families who benefit from the grants are required to have at least one employed head of household, have currently filed tax returns and can clearly demonstrate a need.
