/24-7PressRelease/ - Bellbrook, OH, August 30, 2008, Diane Cooper Luker, a Teacher who has recently retired from Xenia Community Schools, will be included as an honored member in the 2008-2009 edition of the Cambridge Who's Who Executive, Professional and Entrepreneurial Registry for excellence in education.
Ms. Luker retired from education after 43 years of devoted service. An expert in teaching and reading, she specialized in educating students in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades. Now officially in retirement, she spends time enjoying her favorite hobbies—namely, reading novels, spending time with her grandchildren and going bird watching. Though she enjoys her freedom, Ms. Luker still makes regular visits to her beloved school, either to assist certain students or to assist the teacher who had the special education position in her class. She expects to eventually venture into consulting.
A graduate of Wright State University and Tennessee Tech University, Ms. Luker holds a Master's Degree and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. After completing her Master's Degree she spent one summer of independent studies on history and the environment in Europe. She is affiliated with the National Education Association and the Ohio Education Association, and has won a number of citations, including the Howard L. Post Excellence in Education Award in 2006 and a Martha Holden Jennings Scholarship. She is an active contributor to local charities and wildlife organizations such as the World Wildlife Foundation, Defenders of Wildlife, the African Wildlife Foundation and the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tennessee.
