"Volkswagen put profits over people, safety and the environment, so now they must pay for their actions"

JACKSON, MS, September 24, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Volkswagen's CEO has resigned and 11 million cars have been affected over an environmental scandal involving the company's diesel-powered vehicles. The Volkswagen diesel models affected include:

- Volkswagen Jetta, 2009 - 2015
- Volkswagen Beetle, 2009 - 2015
- Volkswagen Golf, 2009 - 2015
- Volkswagen Passat, 2014 - 2015
- Audi A3, 2009 - 2015

If you own one or more of the Volkswagen diesel-powered vehicles affected by the emissions fraud, you are encouraged immediately to contact the Diaz Law Firm to discuss potential compensation.

"Everyone knows that when you are caught cheating on a test, there are consequences," said Tripp Segars, an attorney with the Diaz Law Firm. Segars references recent reports that Volkswagen illegally installed software into its diesel-powered vehicles that was aimed to evade emissions standards for reducing smog. "Simply put, the company created software to cheat emissions tests," said Segars. The diesel-powered vehicles are equipped with 4-cylinder turbo diesel engines, termed by the company as "clean diesel."

The "clean diesel" slogan is used by Volkswagen to market to car buyers who are looking for an eco-friendly vehicle. "When you purchased one of the affected vehicles, you thought you were helping the environment," said Segars. In reality, that is not the case. The vehicles use a "defeat device" to bypass or render inoperative certain elements of the vehicles' emission control system. When the device or "switch" senses that a vehicle is being tested, it activates and provides a false or misleading reading.

Defeat devices are illegal, and if they are found in a motor vehicle, it cannot be certified. "The continued existence of defeat devices in Volkswagen's diesel-powered vehicles means the cars are losing their value, which is another reason consumers are upset," said Joey Diaz, senior partner and founder of the

Diaz Law Firm. Additionally, when consumers purchase eco-friendly vehicles, they usually come with a higher sticker price. In this case, the company cheated on tests so they could sell cars at a higher price. "Volkswagen put profits over people, safety and the environment, so now they must pay for their actions" said Diaz.
