TAMPA, FL, August 30, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- DIG Coaching Practice presents "ADHD: Homeschool or High School? The Sequel," on Attention Talk Radio (ATR) with host Jeff Copper and guest Carol Barnier. For ADHD children who struggle in a traditional school setting, one alternative that allows them to find their own unique learning style is homeschooling. Jeff talks with Carol about homeschool resources, and Carol shares her valuable insights on the subject, as well as touching on challenges of homeschooling when the teacher (the parent) has ADHD.

Carol Barnier is a homeschooling mom of many years who speaks coast to coast at homeschool conferences and is a frequent radio show guest. She understands the unique challenges in raising a highly distractible child, sharing one's life with a high-energy, distractible mate, and being a distractible, non-linear thinker in a very linear world. She began her quest to find educational options when her son, a non-stop, constantly moving ball of energy, didn't fit the mold that worked so well in a traditional classroom setting.

When she first began homeschooling her ADHD son, Carol searched everywhere for tips on how to teach her highly distractible child and found volumes of information on how to recognize and manage, medicate and discipline the ADHD child, but practically nothing on how to teach that child math or reading. After several difficult months, she stopped thinking in terms of what works for most children and began to learn what worked for her child. Over the years, she developed teaching tips and strategies in their homeschool that clearly made a difference -- especially in reading and math.

Carol's creative, can-do strategies with this child led to her book entitled How To Get Your Child Off the Refrigerator and On to Learning. When she admitted to her own ever-increasing distractibility, she had to develop survival strategies in order to keep herself on track . The result is a funny, practical book entitled, If I'm Diapering a Watermelon, Then Where'd I Leave the Baby? Her third book, The Big WHAT NOW Book of Learning Styles, offers dozens of ways to teach individual subjects, such as science, math, writing, or geography, from several different learning styles. Carol can be found on the Web at http://www.carolbarnier.com, as well as http://www.westfieldacademy.org and http://www.sizzlebop.com.

The program will be aired on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at 8 pm ET, on Attention Talk Radio, an Internet talk-radio show hosted each week by attention coach Jeff Copper. The show focuses on insight and insightful thinking, preparing the mind to solve problems through insight or the sudden comprehension after viewing something in a different light. The show is hosted on a web-based platform that allows anyone with a phone or a computer to listen, participate, or interact with the show.

The public is encouraged to listen online at http://www.attentiontalkradio.com or by calling 646-652-4409.
