/24-7PressRelease/ - DOWNERS GROVE, IL, June 23, 2007 - These seniors have demonstrated the Rotary motto, "Service above self" along with achieving academic excellence throughout their school years. The scholarship winners are:
Katie Durkin, Downers North High
Jennifer Kindermann, Downers South High.
Colette Patnaude, Downers North High.
Emily Peckhart, Downers South High.
Kelly Phelan, Downers North High.
Kaitlin Swiererga, Timothy Christian High
"This year's award winners exemplify the wonderful community that we have in Downers Grove." says Steve Harap, Rotary Club President. "Whether attending public or private schools, young members of our community are doing outstanding things. It is nice for them to be recognized and we know they will continue their achievements in the future."
The scholarship endowment fund has been established over time by the Downers Grove Rotary Club through various fundraisers. These include selling snow cones at Heritage Fest, hosting silent auctions, operating the beer garden at Heritage Fest and running the annual Downers Grove Oktoberfest.
Seniors in high school that live within the boundaries of Downers Grove are eligible for the scholarship. Applications are available through high school counselors in the spring and will be available on the Downers Grove Rotary Club web site, http://www.dgrotary.org.
