Dr. Charlotte Murrow Taylor to Be Profiled in Exclusive Registry

Dr. Charlotte Murrow Taylor received the Distinguished Professional Service Award from the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision



    CAMERON, SC, June 15, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Charlotte Murrow Taylor has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in counseling.

Dr. Taylor has successfully worked in private practice with individuals and couples, resolving issues that are counterproductive to good health since 1986. A Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor in South Carolina, a Nationally Certified Counselor, a Doctoral Addictions Counselor, a Certified Mediator in South Carolina, and a former Outdoor Challenge Course Facilitator, Dr. Taylor previously served as an associate professor at Clemson University (1995 - 2001), a graduate assistant at the University of Memphis (1990 - 1992), an adjunct professor at The Citadel ((1984 - 1995), an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina (1984 - 1986), Director of Counseling Services for Berkeley County, SC (1981 - 1994), a school counselor (1973 - 1978) and a classroom teacher (1971 - 1973). She holds state certificates for Elementary, Advanced Counseling, Psychology and School Psychologist l. Having overcome three different forms of cancer, Dr. Taylor attributes her success to her spiritual foundation and the support she receives from her family as well as the late professor Dr. J. Ken Shelton and professor Dr. Richard K. James.

Over the course of her career, she has received numerous awards including: Professor Emeritus at Clemson University in 2001; the Distinguished Professional Service Award from the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision in 1994; the 1990 Outstanding Counseling Supervisor Award from the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision; the Outstanding Administrator Award from the South Carolina Association for Counseling and Development in 1987; the Tribute to Women and Industry Award (TWIN) from The YMCA of Greater Charleston, South Carolina in 1986; the Humanitarian Award from the South Carolina Association for Counseling and Development in I984; and the Outstanding Guidance Administrator of the Year honor from the Department of Counseling Psychology at the University of South Carolina in 1984.

Dr. Taylor has served in numerous capacities including: On-site Co-Chair of the Southern Region AACD/Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision Conference in Charleston, South Carolina; President of the South Carolina Association for Counselor Educators and Supervisors (1985-86); Secretary of the South Carolina Personnel and Guidance Association (1983-84) and President of the Tri-County Guidance & Counseling Association (1983-84); Founding Member of the South Carolina Association of School Social Workers (1980) and President of Kappa Kappa Iota Teacher Sorority (1977-78); President of the Green Key Honorary Leadership Society at Jacksonville University (1968-69); and Chair of the Student Legislature at Jacksonville University (1967-68).

She holds membership in the following organizations: Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, American Counseling Association, American School Counselors' Association, American Association of Suicidology, American Association of Christian Counselors; Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, Association for Death Education, Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Honor Society, and Kappa K.appa Iota Teacher's Sorority.

In 1992, Dr. Taylor received a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Memphis. She earned her M.Ed. in Counseling from The Citadel and her B.S. in Psychology and Education from Jacksonville University.
