Backed by nearly a decade of practiced experience in education and public affairs, Dr. Lee's most recent position was as professor for the National Civil Defense and Disaster Management Training Institute through the Ministry of Public Safety and Security of Korea. At the start of his career, he worked as a senior researcher for Kyoto University, and subsequently held the role of research professor at Kangwon National University.
An alumnus of Korea University and Kyoto University, Dr. Lee holds a Bachelor of Engineering in civil and environmental engineering, a Master of Engineering in geotechnical engineering, and a Ph.D in geodisaster prevention engineering. Certified in civil engineering, disaster prevention, construction and project management, and business continuity, he affiliates himself with the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, the Korean Geotechnical Society, and the Korea Disaster Prevention Association, where he is a lifetime member. Throughout his career, he has achieved much. He has obtained patents for a horizontal displacement sensor that is used in rainfall-simulated centrifugal model tests, as well as for an apparatus for rainfall simulation in centrifugal model tests.
As a testament to his success, Dr. Lee has been recognized numerous times for his work in the field. In 2015, he received the Best Paper Award through the Korean Geoenvironmental Society and the Korean Society of Agricultural Engineers, and, just last year, he won the same award from the Japanese Geotechnical Society.
