Dr. Constance Janiga-Perkins Named a VIP Member of Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Higher Education

    TUSCALOOSA, AL, March 25, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Constance Janiga-Perkins, Associate Professor of Spanish at The University of Alabama, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.

Dr. Janiga-Perkins has 30 years of experience in higher education and 25 years as an associate professor of Spanish at The University of Alabama. Her research interests include the colonial periods of Spain and Brazil and female writers of Spanish America in the 1700s and 1800s. Her responsibilities include teaching undergraduate students in grammar and modern languages, and instructing graduate students about the Spanish-American colonial period. She is also working on a critical manuscript of her current findings.

Dr. Janiga-Perkins attributes her success to her hard work, great mentors, and a little bit of luck. She became involved in her profession because she grew up in a Hispanic neighborhood and culture, and always had an interest in academic research, learning diverse cultures, and using modern languages. Dr. Janiga-Perkins received a Ph.D. in Hispanic literature. She is a member of the Modern Language Association, SECOLAS, and LASA.

The Spanish program at The University of Alabama is designed to assist students in achieving proficiency in the Spanish language and to lead them to an understanding and appreciation of the wide range of Hispanic culture.
