Dr. David S.H. Bell Honored for his Distinguished Career in Endocrinology

Dr. Bell, a retired professor of medicine, recognizes the contribution of education and research to patient care

    BIRMINGHAM, AL, February 18, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. David S.H. Bell, Endocrinologist with Southside Endocrinology, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in patient care.

Dr. Bell has 44 years of professional experience, with 10 as an endocrinologist at Southside Endocrinology. Through the years, he has set himself apart through patient care and his clinical skills. As a retired 25-year professor of medicine at the University of Alabama Medical School, Dr. Bell understands the importance of ensuring that patients are kept well-informed about their treatment options, and he is particularly adept at conveying that information to those without advanced medical training.

Dr. Bell has published 320 articles in referenced medical journals and four books, including "Diet For Life," the story of his own weight loss. He has been recognized by his peers as a Best Doctor in America and America's Top Doctor since 2001. Additionally, he was named as a Best Doctor for Men in "Men's Health" in 2007 and a Best Doctor for Women in "Women's Health" in 2008. In 2001, he was presented the Distinguished Clinician Award by the American College of Endocrinology for outstanding contributions as a master educator and clinician, and in 2002, the Seale Harris Award by the Southern Medical Association for superior contributions to the art and science of diabetes and endocrinology.

As part of his educational background, Dr. Bell completed fellowships in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at the University of Saskatchewan Royal Hospital and the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, and he completed residencies in internal medicine at the University Saskatchewan Royal Hospital and the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, and Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast in Ireland. He received a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, which is the equivalent of an American MD, from Queen's University Belfast. In addition to his other impressive educational qualifications, Dr. Bell is board certified in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology as a board member, the American College of Endocrinology, the American College of Physicians, the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, among others.
