Dr. Edward Carrol Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence as a Pain Management Psychologist

    MUNSON, OH, June 01, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Edward Carrol, retired pain management psychologist (Physiologic and Pharmacologic emphasis), has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. A diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management, Dr. Carrol celebrates a five-decade career in the field of pain psychology. Now retired, Dr. Carrol's professional focus was in three areas: the development of a four-drug regimen for the treatment of end-stage, metastatic cancer pain; the application of anti-convulsant medication to neuropathic, deafferentation, central pain syndromes and refinement of protocols for the electroanaesthetic techniques of transcutaneous nerve stimulation and neuroprobe to the management of peripheral nerve injury, post-amputation stump pain, post-thoracotomy hyperesthesia, arthralgia and especially radicular pain.

Having concluded his career in 2009, Dr. Carrol made a tremendous impact in his final role as director of the Pain Psychology Section of the Pain Management Center at the Cleveland VA Medical Center. Previously, he served as founder and director of the hospital's Pain Clinic and was also the clinical director of The Pain Management Center at Huron Road Hospital in East Cleveland, Ohio from 1986-1988.

In recognition of his professional excellence, Dr. Carrol was selected for inclusion into Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.

Dr. Carrol prepared for a career in the medical field by investing in his education. In the early 1960s, he attended Columbia College of Columbia University, where he attained a Bachelor of Arts in 1965. Thereafter, he earned a Master of Arts from New York University in 1970 and a second Master of Arts from the University of Delaware in 1975. Finally, Dr. Carrol attained a Ph.D. from the University of Delaware in 1979. His dissertation research was conducted in the Department of Pharmacology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. To stay at the top of his field, he is a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain and the Midwest Pain Society. As he looks to the future, Dr. Carrol intends to enjoy his retirement while taking on select projects and consulting opportunities as they arise.
