-- Dr. Joyce Hauser has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of position, noteworthy awards, visibility, and prominence in a field. The following was accomplished even though at the age of two she became profoundly hard of hearing.
Renowned as an expert in the business and entertainment industries, Dr. Hauser also parlayed her role in 1987 as a Professor with a Ph.D in Psychology from Union Graduate University. In 1999 she was awarded the prestigious honor of New York University's Professor of the Year from the School of Education where she was teaching.
Hauser started her career as an editor for Art in Flowers Publishing Co. and rapidly progressed through the field. After seven years as the president of her eponymous advertising agency, she moved for nine years as President of her public relations firm. In 1978 she founded Marketing Concepts and Communication Inc. As President and C.O.O. her clients included the American Dental Association, American Psychiatric Association, League of Voluntary Hospitals, Association of Private Hospitals, Brooklyn Hospital, Brunswick Hospital Center, Bronx Lebonon Hospital, Prospect Hospital, NY Ear and Eye Hospital, Elscint, Elron, New York Optometric Association, and the House Of Representatives.
In addition to business she moderated numerous talk shows including "Talk-Net", "What's On Your Mind" (WNBC) and "Conversations With Joyce Hauser" on NBC, which boasted guests such as Golda Meier, Ron Howard, Margaret Thatcher, Margaret Mead, Betty Friedan, Gloria Steinem, the Dalai Lama, Joan Rivers, Mayor Koch, Daniel Monahan, Eva Marie Saint, Joseph Mankiewicz, Rita Moreno, Lena Horne, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Tony Roberts, Gloria Swanson, Eli Wallach and Ann Jackson, Mickey Rooney, and others. She also created and assisted in producing the Emmy Award Documentary "Countdown to a Contract on CVS Network." And in 1987 she became the Entertainment Critic for WNBC. The reviews were aired every week on WNBC. Dr. Hauser is the author of "Good Divorces, Bad Divorces: A Case for Divorce Mediation." Throughout her long and successful career, Dr. Hauser has been awarded for her many professional accomplishments. In 1981, she was named one of the 20 Top Women in Public Relations. In 1980 she was the recipient of the Professionalism Award from NBC. In 1992 she was named one of the Top Successful Woman by the Cancer Society. In 1976 she was named Teacher of The Year by Zeta Beta Tau and in 1980 she was named the John E. Wilson Fellow.
Her professional affiliations include the American Federation of TV and Radio Artists, The Association of American Travel Writers, Outer Critics Circle, Drama Desk, and New York Press Club. Additionally, Dr. Hauser has been featured in 11 editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, eight editions of Who's Who of American Women, and one edition of Who's Who in the Media and Communication.
She has three children: Ellen, Mitchell and Mark and five grandchildren: Wesley, Dean, Sheridan, Max, Hayden and Jacob.
