Dr. Margaret Morris Honored by Marquis Who's Who for Professional Efforts in Education & Linguistics

    ORANGEBURG, SC, October 21, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Margaret Morris has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Morris was one of two translators for "The Devil's Nose," a historical fiction novel written by LaNariz del Diablo. In April 2015, the publication received the honor of being named Book of the Month on Amazon.com. In addition, Dr. Morris recently finished a term as an elected foreign language representative of the College Language Association. She is currently an associate professor of Spanish and a coordinator of modern languages at South Carolina State University, and a Sunday school teacher. Furthermore, she tutors children in Spanish at St. Paul Baptist Church.

In the past, Dr. Morris taught Spanish at Hampton University, North Carolina A&T State University, Johnson C. Smith University and Livingstone College. To prepare for her career in education, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1979. She later went on to earn a certification in teaching in the State of North Carolina. Aside from her positions at various universities, she has served as an NAACP advisor for students at South Carolina State University.

Dr. Morris has written several works outside of her usual professional endeavors. These include "An Introduction to Selected Afro-Latino Writers" and "Discord in the Queen City: The Relationship Between Blacks and Hispanics in Charlotte, North Carolina." She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the recipient of the Banquet Speaker Award from the Prince Hall Masons, and was included in Who's Who in America. In her free time, Dr. Morris enjoys reading and traveling. Her efforts as an educator will continue to make an impact on her positions and local community for years to come.
