Dr. Marilyn A. Ray Honored by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Education

Dr. Ray is the author of "Transcultural Caring Dynamics in Nursing & Healthcare"



Since 2006, she has served as a professor emeritus with Florida Atlantic University.

    BOCA RATON, FL, May 31, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Marilyn Anne Ray has been included in Marquis Who's Who. For more than 45 years, Dr. Ray has excelled in the field of nursing education. Since 2006, she has served as a professor emeritus with Florida Atlantic University. At the start of her career, she was a nursing instructor at the University of California, San Francisco, and the University of San Francisco. Subsequently, she held academic roles at McMaster University, the University of Colorado, and at the College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University. She served for 32 years in the United States Air Force Reserve as a flight nurse, educator, administrator and researcher, and retired as a Colonel in 1999. She is also a Veteran of the First Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm).

An alumna of the University of Colorado, Denver, McMaster University, and the University of Utah, Dr. Ray holds a diploma, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing, a Master of Arts in anthropology, and a Ph.D. in nursing. Her professional affiliations include the American Academy of Nursing, the Society for Applied Anthropology, the American Nurses Association, the International Association for Human Caring, the Space Nursing Society, the Transcultural Nursing Society, the Military Officers Association, and the European Society for Person-Centered Healthcare.

Throughout her career, Dr. Ray has contributed her knowledge to a number of published works, including "Transcultural Caring Dynamics in Nursing & Healthcare," "A Study of Caring Within an Institutional Culture: The Discovery of the Theory of Bureaucratic Caring," and "Nursing, Caring & Completely Science: For Human Environment Wellbeing." She received the Book of the Year Award in 2011, the Humanitarian Award from Marquis Who's Who in February 2017, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the University of Colorado College of Nursing Alumni Association in 2017. She has been featured in numerous editions of Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals, Who's Who in American Nursing, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in the World.
