Dr. Marvin J. Stone Celebrated by Marquis Who's Who for Almost 55 Years of Medical Experience

    DALLAS, TX, March 30, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Marvin J. Stone has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Recognized for nearly five and a half decades of invaluable contributions to his field, Dr. Stone parlays his knowledge into his roles with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, where he has taught since 1970, and the Baylor Sammons Cancer Center, where he served as Director and Chief of Oncology from 1976-2008. He was named Chief Emeritus of Hematology and Oncology at Baylor/Dallas in 2016. Before entering the field in a professional capacity, he attended Ohio State University, and earned a Master of Science in pathology and an MD with Honors from the University of Chicago. Upon graduating, he began as an intern and assistant resident at Barnes Hospital. Subsequently, he joined the National Institute of Arthritis and Metabolic Diseases as a clinical associate for the arthritis and rheumatism branch. Towards the end of the 1960s, he began working with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and has since served in the roles of fellow in hematology-oncology, instructor in the department of internal medicine, assistant professor, associate professor and chairman of the bioethics committee. Before starting his most recent role, he became an adjunct member of the immunology graduate program for the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences through the University of Texas Health Science Center.

A diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (Hematology, Medical Oncology), Dr. Stone also affiliates himself with the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Osler Society, the American College of Physicians, the Royal Society of Medicine, the American Association of Immunologists, and the Southern Society of Clinical Investigation, as well as many others. Throughout his lengthy career, he has contributed to numerous articles and chapters in books. Additionally, Dr. Stone has been recognized many times for his work, including with the Distinguished Service Award through the University of Chicago and a Lifetime Achievement Award through the International Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia Foundation in 2004. He has also been included in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
