He has been a notable member of the school's community since 1991. Prior to joining Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Dr. Abdelsamad served as dean and taught finance at the University of Massachusetts in North Dartmouth, Mass. He started honing his skills in educational leadership as an associate dean at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Abdelsamad's success is partially a result of his own educational foundation. After graduating with honors from Cairo University with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1961, he went on to earn an MBA and a Doctor of Business Administration from George Washington University. In addition to his efforts in academia, Dr. Abdelsamad is appreciated for his work for the Society for Advancement of Management (SAM). He serves as president of the nonprofit organization, as well as editor-in-chief of the SAM Advanced Management Journal. Dr. Abdelsamad also parlays his knowledge and experience as a consultant in the field.
In light of his accomplishments, Dr. Abdelsamad has received a number of formal honors from SAM over the years. These include a Phil Carroll Advancement of Management Finance Award in 1989, a Management Excellence Award in 1991, the Taylor Key Award in 2000, and a President Excellence Award in 1996. He has also been featured in the 36th edition of Who's Who in the South and Southwest, as well as multiple editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.
