FAIRFAX, VA, January 20, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Richard S. Pergolizzi Jr., a physician with HealthQare Associates, will be featured in the upcoming book "Top Doctors: Experts in Medicine." The book reveals the objectives and triumphs that prominent Worldwide Registry members have achieved to gain success. Selected from more than 400,000 executives, professionals and entrepreneurs, these exemplary leaders stay at the top of their fields by possessing unique experience and wisdom, all the while exhibiting innovation in their work.

With more than 16 years of expertise in Interventional Neuroradiology and Neurointerventional Surgery, Dr. Richard S. Pergolizzi Jr. is considered a leader in the field. Unlike traditional treatment plans, he approaches Neurovascular pathology such as Intracranial Aneurysms with the use of endovascular techniques, providing therapy through the use of catheters and live image guidance. He focuses his practice on interventions of the brain, head and neck and spine, and is one of the few in his field that currently provides some of these services in the outpatient setting. By moving the performance of many of these procedures out of the hospital setting, Dr. Pergolizzi can provide efficient care at a high level while affording his patients more comfort and convenience and significantly reducing costs to the healthcare system. Dr. Pergolizzi works with patients one-on-one so that he may properly identify and diagnosis conditions and set in place a treatment plan specific to their needs. He uses image-guided techniques to perform a variety of procedures to provide pain relief for patients suffering from disorders of the spine, including nerve root and spinal cord compression syndromes and degenerative spine disorders. For his exemplary work over nearly two decades, Dr. Pergolizzi has been named "Compassionate Doctor" by Vitals and he has been the recipient of two patient's choice awards. Moreover, he was listed among the top 10 specialists in the metro area. He has also been voted a "Top Doctor" in "Washingtonian" and "Northern Virginia" magazines for the past several years.

Dr. Pergolizzi received his medical degree from Northeastern Universities College of Medicine in 1993 and went on to complete a Diagnostic Radiology residency at the University of Cincinnati. Thereafter, he spent three years in fellowship subspecialty training in Diagnostic Neuroradiology, Interventional Neuroradiology and NeuroInterventional surgery at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Massachusetts General Hospital. While there, he was selected as an NIH research fellow and participated in state-of-the-art research and clinical work using their prototype intraoperative MRI system. Dr. Pergolizzi credits his education as the driving force behind his success. He also attributes his success to his involvement in his professional community. He is a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, a senior member of the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery and a member of the American College of Radiology, among many others.

In the years to come, Dr. Pergolizzi intends to establish a unique free-standing neurovascular center. For more information, please visit http://www.healthqare.com and http://www.DrRichardSPergolizziJr.com.
