In his career, he has held numerous teaching and research roles, including adjunct professor at the California School of Professional Psychology, visiting professor of psychology for Saybrook Institute, clinical associate professor of psychology in psychiatry at The University of Pennsylvania, research assistant professor for the department of obstetrics and gynecology at The University of Pennsylvania, research assistant professor for the department of neurosurgery at The University of Pennsylvania, and consulting research methodologist for Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Rubin has also been successful in the clinical setting as director of the James Goodrich Whitney Clinic at the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco, member of the staff for privileges in psychology at Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital, consultant for the Biostatistics Center at the University of Zurich, and staff clinical psychologist for gyn oncology (Clarke Unit) of The University of Pennsylvania. In recognition of his professional excellence, Dr. Rubin was the recipient of a Jan Lee Prize for Analysis and the Arts, a Lifetime of Science Achievement Award, an International Medal of honor for Intellectual and Vocational Excellence, a Universal Award of Accomplishment, a Gold Record of Achievement, and the title of Scientist of the Year. In addition, he was selected for inclusion into Who's Who in America, who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.

Dr. Rubin prepared for a career in the field of psychology by pursuing and completing his education. He attended Northwestern University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology (with honors) in 1966, a Master of Arts in psychology in 1968, and a Ph.D. in psychology in 1971. Thereafter, he completed an outpatient psychology fellowship at The University of Pennsylvania, and he achieved a diploma in analytical psychology from the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich, Switzerland. To further support his career, Dr. Rubin achieved several certifications, including a certificate of professional qualification in psychology accredited by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards, a diploma in psychoanalysis from the American Board of Professional Psychology, and state licenses in California, Oregon (current), Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Arizona (past). To remain at the top of his field, Dr. Rubin has been a member of the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, the Society for Psychotherapy Research, the Association of Graduate Analytical Psychologists International, the International College of Prescribing Psychologists, and the American Board of Professional Psychology.
