Dr. Kikukawa has dedicated himself to the practice of psychiatry for many years, most recently serving with the Kyoto Min-iren Chuo Hospital in Japan. Using the Japan Stroke Scale- Emotional Disturbance Scale and the Barthel Index, they determined that sodium valproate yielded a marked improvement on the standards of a recovering patient's daily life. He was certified as a mental health psychiatrist by the Ministry of Health Labour and Welfare in Japan in 2008. He became a staff psychiatrist for Kyoto Min-iren Chuo Hospital in 2015.
