-- Dr. Sunghwan Choi has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Dr. Choi has been a psychiatrist and doctor in Seoul, Korea, since establishing his career in 1989. Now the chief specialist and psychodrama director at Incheon Woori Hospital, he demonstrates an expertise in all areas of medicine as it pertains to social and biological psychiatry. Previously, Dr. Choi came to prominence in former roles as chairman of the mental health center for Daegu Metropolitan City's Suseong district, vice president of Daedong Hospital, officer of the Republic of Korea Army, and resident at the National Center for Mental Health. He also completed internships at Kangbuk Samsumg Hospital. In recognition of his professional excellence, Dr. Choi was the recipient of a crime prevention and social contribution ward from the Ministry of Justice, a Best Psychiatric Counselor award from Naver, and a Hall of Fame award from Naver.
Before establishing himself professionally, Dr. Choi prepared for his career by investing in his education. He earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in psychiatry from Kyung Hee University of Medicine in 1989 and 1994, respectively. Thereafter, he attended Kyungpook National University of Medicine, where he earned a doctoral degree in microbiology. To stay at the top of his field, he is a member of the Korean Medical Association, the Korean Neuropsychiatric Association, the Korean Society of Biological Psychiatry, the Korean Association of Social Psychiatry, the Korean Association for Clinical Art and the Korean Neuropsychiatric Association. In addition, Dr. Choi has shared his expertise and insight through published works. Most notably, he has written a series of publications concerning cross-cultural studies on humanities, psychology and anthropology.
Additionally, Dr. Choi has published research papers on sexual dysfunction in alcoholic parents, and the investigation of genetic characterization by molecular biological methods of vancomycin-resistant enteroccous faecium isolated from humans. A book titled 'Leadership Certified' emphasizing the need for mental soundness of national leaders was published in 2017, and two other publishings are expected, one concerning the fourth industrial revolution and its dark future and the other about collision of east and west represented by the dragon concept.
As he looks to the future, Dr. Choi intends to continue pursuing research and development projects in psychiatry while taking on new opportunities as they arise.
