Dr. Suvro Sett Recognized for Excellence in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery

Dr. Sett has taught fellows, residents and allied health professionals.



    MOUNT KISCO, NY, February 25, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Suvro Sett has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in pediatric cardiac surgery.

Dr. Sett entered his profession twenty years ago because he wanted to make a difference in the lives of children. He is highly regarded and respected by peers and colleagues for his specialty work in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery. Currently, Dr. Sett serves Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center since 2004 as Chief, Pediatric Cardiac surgery, where he has performed congenital cardiac surgery in children and young adults.

Dr. Sett is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at New York Medical College. He earned an MD at the University of Saskatchewan in 1983 and received the Horner Prized in Pediatrics. He then completed a General Surgery Residency at the University of Saskatchewan and passed the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada examinations in General Surgery in 1988. Thereafter, he completed a cardiovascular and thoracic surgery residency at the University of British Columbia and passed the Royal College of Physicians and surgeons of Canada examinations in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery in 1991. Subsequently, he was awarded a Duncan L. Gordon Fellowship in pediatric cardiac surgery and research which included myocardial protection in newborn hearts, which he completed in 1993 following which he returned to Vancouver, British Columbia to practice as an attending cardiac surgeon at British Columbia Children's Hospital. He was also an attending cardiac surgeon at St. Paul's Hospital where he did adult congenital cardiac operations. Dr. Sett has taught fellows, residents and allied health professionals.
