The article describes the effectiveness of a particular protocol of medications and anesthetics used before, during and after breast augmentation surgery. Dr. Eisenberg developed this regimen - which affects multiple pathways and nausea receptor sites -- in conjunction with the Nazareth Hospital Anesthesia Department over the past 10 years with his 4000 breast enhancement patients.
Approximately 73% of patients reported no nausea and vomiting from the day of surgery on. On average, the remaining 27% reported some PONV ("3" on a scale of 0-10). These are dramatic results compared with reported statistics that the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting in women getting breast augmentation under general anesthesia is as high as 60 to 80 percent.
