BROOKLYN, NY, September 17, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Early Moments, (www.earlymoments.com), America's foremost publisher of award-winning children's early literacy book clubs, successfully teamed up with Brooklyn Cyclones baseball team fans to set a new Guinness World Record for "The Most Adults Reading to Children in a Single Location." The achievement of the new world children's reading record was declared this evening by Children's Literacy Expert and Editorial Director of Early Moments Julie Temple Stan
Although exact final numbers have yet to be officially tallied and verified by the Guinness organization, Ms. Temple Stan led an estimated 1,200 adults in reading the all time children's book favorite Go, Dog. Go! to an equal number of children which undoubtedly qualifies for Guinness World Record status. The successful attempt at setting a new Guinness world record was made at tonight's Brooklyn Cyclone's home game against the Lowell Spinners in Key Span Park in Coney Island as a prelude to International Literacy Day on September 8th. The official verification of Early Moments setting the world record is expected to be received from Guinness by September 11, 2009.
In order to set the record, Early Moments distributed thousands of free copies of P.D. Eastman's classic beginner reading book title Go, Dog. Go! from the company's popular Dr Seuss & His Friends book club to eager fans of the high octane, five-time Class A Baseball division leaders. The book's text was also displayed on the ball park's JumboTron so that those who did not make it in time to snatch up one of the free books could participate by reading along to children in attendance directly from the park's giant screen.
The visuals and thunderous sound of more than one thousand adults reading Early Moment's Go, Dog. Go! Dr. Seuss and His Friends Book Club selection aloud in unison resulted in a sight and sound to behold. This massive undertaking underscored the importance of early literacy commitments in the USA and throughout the world as we approach International Literacy Day on Tuesday, September 8th.
A highly respected and sought after children's literacy expert, Ms Temple Stan, is available for on-air interviews in association with the United Nation's regarding US literacy rates and the amazing life-long advantages early literacy provides to children. An eloquent and engaging speaker, Ms Temple Stan offers audiences insight from her years of experience working with children's books and early literacy programs. In addition she will share some of her best reading tips to ensure that American children can enjoy their right to read as early as possible.
About International Literacy Day:
On International Literacy Day each year, UNESCO reminds the international community of the status of literacy and adult learning globally. Despite many and varied efforts, literacy remains an elusive target: some 776 million adults lack minimum literacy skills which means that one in five adults is still not literate; 75 million children are out-of-school and many more attend irregularly or drop out. This year, International Literacy Day will put the spotlight on the empowering role of literacy and its importance for participation, citizenship and social development. Literacy and Empowerment is the theme for the 2009-2010 biennium of the United Nations Literacy Decade. For more information visit: http://www.un.org/Depts/dhl/literacy/index.html

About Early Moments:
Early Moments is actually a new name for an old friend. The company has been publishing children's books and operating book clubs for more than 45 years. During that time, it has constantly expanded its selection and improved its clubs in response to parents and educators.
