PARKER, CO, October 17, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Earlier this month, Reuters reported that Americans had mixed reactions on the electronic cigarette. They polled over 4,000 people; most had heard about the electronic cigarette, also known as the e-cigarette. Nearly half of those polled believe the electronic cigarette should be available to smokers who want to quit.
This viewpoint is agreed with by Gina King of http://www.E-CigaretteDirect.com. "Our largest consumer base is middle aged smokers, who have been smoking for over 17 years and have tried other methods of quitting, such as the patch and gum. Nothing has worked for them and most have had resounding success with the electronic cigarette. It makes no sense for the FDA, who proposes that they want people to quit smoking, yet limits their choices."
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), tobacco is the single largest cause of preventable death worldwide. "The electronic cigarette does not contain any tobacco!" states Ms. King "That is the beauty of this product. It has the ability to save millions of lives".
The FDA is making a big deal over the electronic cigarette. One state has banned them, although it is now involved in a law suit with the manufacturers. The two sides are in a heated debate over the fate of the electronic cigarette.
The manufacturers are fighting back, fans are rallying, and time will tell which side will win. More than likely, the FDA will regulate the electronic cigarette and within a few years no one will blink an eye at a smoker puffing away on an electronic cigarette with a glowing tip that needs to be charged.
