AMMAN, JORDAN, January 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In his provocative new book, Economics: The Historical, Religious & Contemporary Perspectives: A Treatise (published by AuthorHouse), Nabil M. Mustapha offers his response to what he terms as an "identified need to look at the combined worth of history, religion and economics, with particular interest in the ethical, moral and philosophical aspects."

With unreserved deference to experts on each individual subject, Economics expresses the layman's position that some simplified understanding of these issues, so critical to our everyday lives, will help maintain a balanced appreciation of the vital interaction between history, religion and economics. Mustapha asserts that looking at only one aspect at a time could cause an omission of dimensions that give greater meaning and usefulness to the others.

Mustapha demonstrates that many of the religious "scriptures" are, in fact, also economic principles. Many are applicable even now, although their origin may not be appreciated. In addition, much of the economic thought was and probably still is, intertwined with or may even originate in part from, ethics and philosophy. Find out more in this thoroughly researched, accessible new book.

Mustapha, in the final chapters of the book, provides an insight into a system of economics and governance, based on the Bahá'í religion's principles and modern economics, that could form a blueprint for a real and lasting "New World Order" based on fairness, equity and prosperity; on sharing of world resources; and on instilling the personal virtues of individual and collective responsibility.

Nabil M. Mustapha was born in Egypt and educated in an English school in Cairo. His medical career led to extensive travel to places including Sudan, Malaysia, the Middle East and England. Now retired, Mustapha lives with his wife in England.
