/24-7PressRelease/ -- After being prosecuted once by the city council and at present being embroiled in a fierce legal battle to gain the right to sell his own music in city centre Manchester. Elavi has come up with the idea of street performing to protest the way he is being treated by the council. When asked why it was important to do this he said that the public have no idea what is happening as the proposed bill that the council is trying to implement is a private members bill and as such the public do not have any say and like so many bills of this nature they become law without the general public realizing what has happened.
The bill that Elavi referrers to, is a bill that seeks to remove the right of peddlers to sell under the 1871 peddlers act. Elavi and many other street sellers have uses this legally to trade up until now but if the bill becomes law it means the end of many peoples lively hood.
The current laws on street performing seem to have enough freedom for me to use it as a way of protest I intend to perform both on Market Street and outside the town hall it self I might even do a little show outside the courts next time I have to appear. I am sure the magistrates need a little light relief from time to time.
Elavi will be appearing in court on the 26th of November at Manchester Magistrates Court where he will plead not guilty to charges of illegal street selling.
