HANOVER, GERMANY, March 04, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jonathan Siegel, CEO and founder of ELC Technologies (www.elctech.com), developers of some of the hottest interactive web applications for Global 2000 companies, will be speaking on the advantages of migrating to a cloud computing strategy at CeBIT this week. The presentation, "There Is a Silver Lining in the Cloud," is being sponsored by Amazon Web Services (AWS), where Siegel serves as a member of the service provider's European Advisory Board.
His presentation is scheduled for Thursday, March 4, at 11:30 and again Friday, March 5, at 1:30 in the Amazon presentation theater.

"A number of industry pundits are predicting 2010 will be the year of cloud computing," said Siegel. "However, IT managers are reluctant to embrace cloud computing because they can't determine how to budget for it, how to manage it, and how to assess other risks associated with new SaaS and IaaS services. Embracing a cloud-based computing strategy requires a new type of thinking, and new approaches to asset management. But those who embrace the cloud will be able to realize substantial flexibility and savings, as well as infinite scalability and storage capacity."

During his presentation, Siegel will discuss forecasting costs and budgeting as well as other issues that concern IT professionals. The "pay-as-you-go" cost model makes cloud computing an attractive option for many, but it provides challenges to predicting costs as a line item in your IT budget. The ELC team has been working with enterprise clients to address this problem and has a proven model for predicting cloud computing costs. Siegel also will discuss the need to adopt a new set of IT management tools, including how to understand cloud security and SLAs, and what it takes to gain control over cloud assets.

ELC Technologies are experts in deploying cloud-based Web applications for start-up and Global 2000 client companies, as well as for their own applications, including RightScale (www.rightscale.com) and RightSignature (www.rightsignature.com). During the presentation, Siegel will share his insight into what types of applications are ideally suited to the cloud, and what pilot projects to consider to begin a cloud migration strategy. He also will discuss the demands of virtualization and how utilizing virtual assets requires a new kind of thinking for programmers and IT professionals.

ELC Technologies is a member of Amazon Web Service's European Customer Advisory board and frequently represents the system integrator perspective at events in the United States and European Union.
