-- After more than 135 years of providing innovative pharmaceutical solutions to patients around the world, Eli Lilly and Company continues to be guided by a strong value set of respect for people, integrity and excellence. Eli Lilly Australia has adopted these beliefs and values since its inception in 1960, says Chris Miskel, General Manager of Eli Lilly Australia-New Zealand.
"Lilly is an innovation-based company that is really focused on providing health and hope: health for those who are sick, and hope for family members out there that are desperate for innovation and solutions to help their loved ones," Miskel says.
Approximately 70 products are being studied in clinical development, 12 of which are in the final pre-registration phase, Phase 3. It takes about 10-15 years to complete the three phases, including pre-clinical (animal) studies, like toxicology, to prove the molecules are safe for humans.
"The clinical plan for each of those is quite developed and quite good," Miskel says. "We assess the unmet medical need carefully and design studies within the context of the available standard of care - with value for patients always top of mind."
Eli Lilly is investing heavily into its pharmacy channel after discovering patients interact with their pharmacist six times more on average than their healthcare provider. This shows educating pharmacists is a necessity based on the meaningful role they play in patients' lives.
