LAFAYETTE, LA, September 27, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Elizabeth Garcia, Physician and Neurologist for Southwest Neuroscience Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of neurology.

With more than nine years of professional experience, Dr. Garcia specializes in treating patients with neuromuscular diseases. Her primary responsibilities include practicing clinical neurology, diagnosing patients' neurological conditions, and treating patients suffering from migraines, multiple sclerosis, strokes, and head injuries. Prior to taking on her current position, Dr. Garcia served in the United States Army for seven years, during which stint she was honored with an Army Commendation Medal. Besides her work for Southwest Neuroscience Center, she also offers her services as a consultant for hospitals. She became involved in her profession because she was inspired by her grandfather, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease, and also because of her own personal experiences with migraines.

Dr. Garcia completed her fellowship in Neurophysiology at the Medical College of Georgia, her residency in General Neurology at the U.S. Army Medical Department, and her MD at the University of Puerto Rico in 1999. She is affiliated with the American Academy of Neurology and the National Headache Foundation, and volunteers with the Alzheimer's Association, Louisiana, the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, and the American Heart Association Stroke Council.
