OAKLAND, CA, February 17, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- HFS Consultants (HFS), a healthcare consulting firm providing management, financial, operational, regulatory, and strategic planning services, announces that Elizabeth (Liz) Stallings has joined the firm as director in the Clinical Operations practice. Based in HFS's Oakland office, she will provide behavioral health consulting services to hospitals and healthcare organizations.

Stallings has more than 30 years' experience in behavioral health management. She has worked as a psychiatric nurse, and has unique skills in health system leadership, behavioral health strategy, operations, financial management, clinical best practice development, and the achievement of optimal quality outcomes.

"HFS's behavioral health services will assist hospitals and healthcare organizations with developing innovative strategies to manage the current influx of psychiatric patients more effectively, more efficiently, and more compassionately," says Stallings. "We will provide behavioral health consultation that improves the quality, access, reimbursement, and treatment for people with psychiatric diagnoses."

According to Stallings, psychiatric resources in California are extremely limited and the hospital industry is currently unprepared for an influx of psychiatric patients, which will continue to cause overcrowding, particularly in emergency rooms. Other factors impacting the behavioral health landscape are the Affordable Care Act, Mental Health Parity, a decrease in inpatient beds, and healthcare reform.

"We welcome Liz to head up our behavioral health services," says Richard Gianello, CEO, of HFS Consultants. "She has the background and expertise to work with hospitals to plan, assess, and implement innovative care models for psychiatric patients that will deliver quality outcomes, efficient daily operations, and financial sustainability."

Prior to joining HFS, Stallings held positions as chief operating officer for John Muir Behavioral Health Center, and as nursing director of the Centers for Behavioral Medicine and Recovery at Mt. Diablo Medical Center in Concord, Calif.

Stallings is the Immediate Past Chair of the Center for Behavioral Health of the California Hospital Association. She is an RN, and holds a BSN from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.
