EmploymentCrossing Adds 28,000+ Jobs in One Week in Washington; State Unemployment Rate Climbs to 5.7%
EmploymentCrossing recently posted 28,030 jobs in Washington in its database in one week, even as the state unemployment rate climbed to a three-and-a-half-year high of 5.7% in July.

/24-7PressRelease/ - Pasadena, CA, August 20, 2008 - The job site, one of the leading job boards in the world, boasts an incredible job database consisting of more than 2 million jobs related to all fields. These jobs are scoured for by hundreds of researchers from 8,000+ job boards and 250,000 websites every day.

The unemployment rate in Washington matches the national unemployment rate of 5.7%. About 189,300 people are currently looking for jobs in the state, and millions of others are looking for ways to increase their incomes in order to combat rising costs. Additionally, Washington's job engine seems to have gotten stuck in first gear, as there has been no improvement in non-farm payroll figures. Estimates indicate that about 8,500 people entered the labor market last month, but only 1,800 managed to find employment. Heavy construction and civil engineering lost 400 jobs, while light construction managed to hold its ground following severe job losses in June.

A. Harrison Barnes, CEO of EmploymentCrossing says, "EmploymentCrossing has posted a good number of jobs in Washington alone, and that is no mean feat given current conditions. EmploymentCrossing understands the critical needs of the hour, and is doubling its efforts to post as many jobs as it possibly can."

The government and education sectors witnessed the largest job growth in July with 900 new jobs each, while the retail and information technology sectors added 800 new jobs a piece. The largest loss of jobs was reported to be in financial services, which lost about 300 jobs.

"Washington has been trying to combat the deteriorating employment situation with great vigor, but has not been successful," Barnes adds. "Washington's financial sector and food processing companies are suffering enormously, keeping the jobless rate high."

The top job titles in terms of availability, according to EmploymentCrossing, are:

• Healthcare jobs
• Managerial jobs
• Information technology jobs
• Engineering jobs
• Nursing jobs

"EmploymentCrossing tries to leverage the quality of the existing job market in Washington with the help of quality efforts put in by hundreds of research analysts who scour for jobs from every nook and cranny of the country," Barnes notes.

Unlike other job boards that simply herd masses of job listings without looking back, EmploymentCrossing weeds out spam and jobs outside one's niche, allowing job seekers to search efficiently and specifically.
