-- If your Christmas Spirit has run aground in a sea of commercialism, perhaps you need to hop the train to the world of Doc Christmas. A cup of the elves' special Cocoa 47 will revitalize you as you travel with the Doc on his journey from reclusive hermit to Christmas savior. Your holiday spirit will ride the rails with as he Doc rediscovers the magic of Christmas and opens a gateway to the fantastic world of the North Pole where saving the holiday could earn him back his family and a new nickname... Doc Christmas.
'While I enjoy a good holiday story as much as anyone, it seemed so many of them were a bit dated and mired in the past. I thought that there should be a way to tell a story of Christmas and have it set in a present day environment. Once that was worked out, things went a step further and, as it turns out, the elves have technology that even surpasses our own! It's funny, but the messages of hope and love that the story delivers shine through with an even brighter traditional glow when set against the modern backdrop." - Neil Enock (iTinkr Studios, 2015, ISBN: 978-1-988108-00-1, $24.99 Hard Cover edition, www.DocChristmas.com
The story, for readers from 6 to 66, begins a few years after Doc's wife unexpectedly passed away. Since then he has shut out his family and friends and pushed away everything in his life except his work. There, his single-minded focus has turned him into one of the world's leading experts in combating rare infectious diseases. This fact becomes very important to Nick when an epidemic races through the elven population of the North Pole and brings holiday preparations to a stand still.
The book follows Doc's journey as Nick goes undercover and works alongside Doc's family, attempting to get him to reconnect with his life, his family and his friends. Nick needs Doc to once again believe in Christmas and ultimately to believe in magic so that he can get himself to be about 5/8 of an inch tall - the height of the average elf. If he can do that, he'll be right size and may just be able to save them!
While Doc may have the medical knowledge to help the elves, he must learn to deal with magic and the wonders of the hidden world that is the North Pole. He is eventually able to help the elves but then finds he must go even further, rallying his restored friends and family in an effort to save Christmas itself. You'll need to read the book to discover the real reason there is a train around the Christmas tree and how Doc earns himself the nickname 'Doc Christmas'.
