Dr. Kim serves the department of psychiatry at Ewha Womans University and the associated MokDong Hospital as a leading expert in child and adolescent psychiatry. She is a celebrated expert in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder and microbiomes, for which she has received a number of awards. In particular, Dr. Kim is well known for her work with app-based self-assessment and treatment programs for reducing stress in patients.
Born in Seoul, Republic of Korea, Dr. Kim first studied with Ewha Womans University, receiving a Hak Sa Diploma and a Medical Doctorate in 1994. She further attended the graduate school with Ewha Womans University to earn a PhD in Medical Science, and was certified by the Korean Board of Psychiatry shortly afterwards. Dr. Kim trained with Ewha Womans University Dongdaemun Hospital and served a psychiatric residency with their department of neuropsychiatry.
Dr. Kim entered the field of medicine as a clinical fellow of the Samsung Medical Center of Sungkyunkwan University in 1999, serving the division of child and adolescent psychiatry until 2001. In 2002, she joined the center's department of psychiatry, only to return to Ewha as a faculty member later that year. In 2003, she was appointed an assistant professor with her alma mater, and since 2009, she has served as an associate professor of the department of psychiatry at Ewha Womans University.
Dr. Kim is well regarded with the Korean psychiatric community, and belongs to a number of societies. Notably, she is a current member of the Korean Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as the Korean Academy of Psychiatry. Dr. Kim has additionally supported the Society of Korean Woman Psychiatrists, and numerous committees for the aforementioned groups, including the academic committees of the Korean Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Society of Korean Women Psychiatrists. In particular, Dr. Kim was the editor-in-chief of the Journal of the Society of Korean Women Psychiatrists from 2014 to 2016, and served on the editorial board of Anxiety and Mood from 2007 to 2011. She has a child of her own, and enjoys traveling with her husband (JeongHun Yoon) and son (YeChan Yoon).
