Widely regarded for her knowledge in the area of accounting, Dr. DeWitt previously served as an instructor for revenue agents with the IRS from 1986 to 2005. Dr. DeWitt continues to be recognized as a Notary Public in New York. She maintains active involvement with the Institute of Management Accountants, where she is a member of the board of directors.
Previously, Dr. DeWitt served as the vice president of professional education from 1994 to 1995, and as the president in 1997 and 2007. She is the former vice president and president of the Toastmaster's 21 Club, board governor of the Stuart Cameron McCloud Society, and director of member services with the York College Alumni Association.
Throughout the course of her career, Dr. DeWitt has contributed numerous articles to professional journals. She is also a credited author of newsletters. In recognition of her contributions to the accounting industry, Dr. DeWitt has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in Finance and Industry. In addition, she was selected for inclusion in the 16th, 17th, 26th and 27th editions of Who's Who in the World, which were published between 1998 and 2009.
Prior to beginning a career in accounting, Dr. DeWitt attended the City University of New York, where she received a Bachelor of Science in accounting and economics in 1981. One of her earliest roles was as a junior accountant for Kenneth Laventhol, a CPA firm located in New York City. She was certified through the Bethlehem Missionary Bible Institute in 1990 and went on to receive a Master of Theology through Lighthouse Christian College in 1998. At the turn of the century, Dr. DeWitt completed a Doctor of Divinity, magna cum laude, through Lighthouse Christian College. She recently received a PhD in 2011.
Early in her career, Dr. DeWitt served as a religious teacher for various institutions throughout New York. She also spent time as a missionary to numerous locations throughout the world, including Belize, England, Guyana, Nigeria and the West Indies. Since 1996, Dr. DeWitt has been a member of the prison ministry team to Riker's Island through the Bethlehem Missionary Church. She has also been a missionary evangelist with the Wartburg Lutheran Home for Seniors since 1999 and an associate minister with the Bethel Baptist Church since 2000.
