MERRIMACK, NH, November 02, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Evelyn C. Barrett a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Mrs. Barrett celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A retired business education teacher since 1990, Mrs. Barrett was the former head of the department of business education for 10 years at Merrimack High School, an institution where she spent the majority of her 33-year career. She began her career at Milford High School in NH, a position that was merely a stepping stone for the years ahead. Between the years of 1947 and 1952, Mrs. Barrett taught in higher education before entering secondary education, first as an instructor of typing at Louisiana State University in the college of commerce, and later as a summer instructor at Mississippi Southern College, as a clerk-stenographer for the department of physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana, and lastly as an instructor of shorthand at Illinois Commercial College. Prior to teaching, Mrs. Barrett worked in administrative work as a bookkeeper/secretary and later as an assistant.

Mrs. Barrett's love for children spilled into her personal life as well. She often participated in volunteer work within her community, serving as a cadet leader, troop program consultant, adult volunteer trainer, and senior troop leader for the Girls Scouts of America during the 1960s and 1970s. She was also an organizer and first president of the Merrimack Group, Hillsborough County Extension Service during the late 1950s.

Married to Arthur James Barrett since 1951 with four children of her own, Mrs. Barrett still found time to serve on close to 20 different professional organizations during her career, both professional and recreational. Some of her professional affiliations relating to education included the National Education Association, the N.H Education Association, the New England Business Educators Association, and the Eastern Business Education Association. Some of her non-vocational memberships have included Reeds Ferry Women's Club, Merrimack Senior Citizen Club, and Our Lady of Mercy Ladies Guild, where she also spent time as vice president and president.

Mrs. Barrett earned a diploma with honors at Perkinson Junior College (now Mississippi Coast College) in 1945, a Bachelor of Science in Commerce with high honors at Mississippi Southern College (now the University of Southern Mississippi) in 1947, a Master of Business Administration in Accounting at Louisiana State University in 1950, as well as numerous continuing education courses between the years of 1950 and 1982. To honor her accomplishments, she has been named to several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
