More than 25,000 customers across the US and Europe rated 104 ad experiences for desktop web and mobile web. The research concluded that brands that are advertising with a pop-up, auto-play ads especially with sounds that require actions to continue with their online search were least effective and damaging to the brand, as they 'annoyed' consumers.

The study also looked at mobile users and concluded that adverts consuming more than 30% of the screen created negative feelings toward the advert and caused the consumer to disengage with the brand. Event!t Pty recommends brands consider reshaping their online advertising strategies, with pop-up blocking technologies improving soon the online platform will prove ineffective and overall return will decrease. By damaging online relationships with consumers, it can cause lasting damage and turn off customers to future marketing attempts. The firm is concerned that reduced return will cause brands to over saturate the market and desensitise the client from online strategies.
