On Thursday June 26th, The Institute of American and Talmudic Law (IAT Law) will host a program about Witnesses - Testifying and Cross Examination with renowned attorney Barry I. Slotnick, which will include the Bible's perspective on this high-profile issue.

Slotnick will explore the ins-and-outs of handling witnesses in a modern day court room, at an Institute of American and Talmudic Law (IAT Law) seminar at Chabad-Lubavitch of Midtown Manhattan. Mr. Slotnick will discuss cross examination techniques, ethical dilemmas pertaining to witnesses and the process of vetting who should and who should not testify. Unique, to IAT Law, the Talmudic scholar Rabbi Shlomo Yaffe will also explore whether there are there similar methods in Judaic law, as well as, how the Judaic legal code looks at testifying and cross examination.

IAT Law primarily provides entertaining CLE seminars for attorneys; however, this program can be useful for all those interested in a discussion of contemporary legal issues..

Barry Ivan Slotnick is a shareholder in the New York office of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, where he focuses his practice on civil and white-collar litigation. He is a member of the firm's Litigation Section and is co-chair of the White Collar Defense and Investigations Group. Before joining Buchanan, Barry was a founding partner with a leading boutique litigation firm in New York. He recently represented Jay J. Ferriola, a former Army Reservist who successfully sued the government to block his deployment to Iraq. Several other significant matters have included: People v. Bernhard Goetz, Anthony Quinn matrimonial matters and Gumbel v. Gumbel. Barry's practice includes commercial litigation, civil litigation, defense of disciplinary proceedings, high net-worth matrimonial matters and white collar defense. Throughout his career, Barry has been honored for his work in the community and as an attorney. He received the Best Performance award from The American Lawyer and an AMMY Award as among the Best Criminal Lawyers in the United States. He received the Humanitarian Award from the Crime Victims‚ Political Platform, the Award on Behalf of Crime Victims from the New York State Supreme Court Officer's Association, the Israel Leadership Peace Award and the New York State Bar Association Award for Outstanding Practitioner in 1988. He was also awarded the Anti-defamation and Anti-discrimination Award from the Italian American Civil Rights League, as well as the Champion of Youth Award from B'nai B'rith. In 2006, he was selected as a New York Super Lawyer .
