Face Off With Fido at the Classy Cars & Canines Show!

Car Show Benefiting SPCA of Texas Seeks Dogs and Owners For A Unique Look-Alike Contest

/24-7PressRelease/ - GRAPEVINE, TX, May 31, 2007 - If your mug looks like your pug, or if you've ever been told that you're a dead ringer for your Dalmatian, make plans now to enter the Best Owner/Dog Look-Alike Contest during the Classy Cars & Canines Show June 9 at the Grapevine Mills Mall. The show, which benefits the SPCA of Texas, will award a five-foot-tall trophy - and plenty of bragging rights - to the person whom judges decide most pawsitively resembles their pooch.

"It's amazing how many people out there look like their dogs," says Ron Sturgeon, owner of DFW Elite Auto Rental.com, which is sponsoring the daylong event. "This is a fun way to show the rest of the world how much you and your dog look alike - and benefit a great cause at the same time."

The event boasts plenty of activities for man and his best friend to enjoy. Running from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., the show also includes a Best Dog/Car Look-Alike Contest. So if your beagle looks more like a Buick than like his best buddy, he just might have a leg up on that event.

"This is just a good way for dogs and their owners to be able to enjoy the day together," Sturgeon says. "We wanted to have some unusual ways for them to do that."

Of course, there will be cars on hand as well, with awards going to the Best Modified/Race Car, Best of Show (1995 or newer), Best of Show (1994 or older) and People's Choice. The show is open to any car enthusiast interested in participating, and the $20 registration fee goes directly to the SPCA of Texas. The event is open to both people and their pets, although dogs must be leashed and be current on vaccinations to attend.

The SPCA of Texas will have a different kind of vehicle participating in the show: its Mobile Adoption Vehicle, which will have animals in need of good home ready to meet their new owners. So even if you don't go to the show with a four-legged friend, you could walk away with one.

For a donation of $3 or a new dog toy, attendees can also enter a drawing to win a Drive Your Dream automotive tour from DFW Elite Auto Rental.com.
