/24-7PressRelease/ - STATE COLLEGE, PA, October 05, 2007 -- AccuWeather.com announced the launch of the new AccuWeather.com Fall Foliage Center, an online resource for "leaf chasers," families, and students who want to know what conditions cause the changing leaves and where to find the most spectacular displays. The Center is launching just in time for viewers to catch the most spectacular displays of foliage typically seen by mid-October.

The AccuWeather.com Fall Foliage Center features up-to-date national maps that indicate the level of leaf change by region. It also offers a wealth of interesting and informative weather graphics and video "explainers" that cover topics such as the effects of drought stresses on fall color, average dates of first frosts, and changes in air currents in the fall season. Visitors can even submit their own favorite autumnal snapshots through the AccuWeather.com Media Center which will feature user-contributed fall photos throughout the season.

"As The World's Weather Authority, we at AccuWeather.com keenly relate to the excitement people feel about the changes of season," Jim Candor, AccuWeather.com's Senior Vice President of New Media and a professional meteorologist, said. "Dryness of the soil and position of the sun are the two major factors that contribute to changing color, so we may expect to see some great color related to this year's droughts."

The AccuWeather.com Fall Foliage Center is featured in the site's News Center. As the winter season approaches, also look for the AccuWeather.com Winter Center.
