/24-7PressRelease/ -- Appel Farm's Saturday family matinee series provides affordable family fun combined with the excitement of live performances. Four shows, featuring delightful dinosaurs, roller-blading young lovers and hilarious misfit rustics, the adventures of a young boy and his favorite toy and a classic Cinderella tale will take place in February and March in the theater at Appel Farm. Two performances will include sign-language interpretation, and one features open-captioning.
On February 21, Theatreworks USA's Dinosaurs! comes to life as nationally acclaimed puppeteer Jim West, and Fossil, the dinosaur detective, mix fun and facts in a colossal show inspired by everyone's prehistoric creatures. Mozart, Beethoven, Mahler, Stravinsky and Prokofiev provide the rich musical score.
Family Week at the Theatre, a program of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance, provides free and discounted tickets to young people and their families during March. On March 7, Appel Farm hosts an acclaimed production of A Midsummer Night's Dream by the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, adapted for young people. In this colorful and magical take on a perennial favorite, Shakespeare's beloved comedy takes audiences on a delightful escapade as they follow the hilarious mishaps of four young lovers and a band of misfit rustics from the Fairy Kingdom. This raucous production is a thrilling "first Shakespeare" for children and a hilarious roller coaster ride for the whole family. Tickets for children are free for this event. A child's long-time favorite toy rabbit longs to step outside the nursery's make-believe world and become real. In the search for his dream, the Velveteen Rabbit and the Boy set off on a journey that holds both adventures and discoveries, and shows them the meaning of true friendship. The Velveteen Rabbit, a production of Running Rabbit Family Theatre, will be presented on March 14. This performance will be sign-language interpreted.
The award-winning Pushcart Players will present the premiere of a new production on March 28. Inspired by the classic tale of Cinderella, Happily Ever After- A Cinderella Tale is a musical adaptation that will take young people on a journey where courage and kindness triumph over greed, arrogance and bully behavior. This performance will be sign-language interpreted and open-captioned.
