"Faraway" A Suburban Boy's Story as a Victim of Sex Trafficking by R.K. Kline and Daniel D. Maurer

Memoir shines light on male sex trafficking.

The summer was full of violence, manipulation, naivete and death, but it was also a time of friendship and survival. At its core, "Faraway" is a testament to the saving power of friendship and faith.

ST. PAUL, MN, May 05, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As a 14-year-old, Kevin Kline was just beginning to understand his orientation as a gay teen when he met someone who changed his life forever. Kline thought this new friendship was a gateway to meeting other people like him; he never thought it would lead him into child prostitution. Forty years later, he is finally sharing his experiences in "Faraway" A Suburban Boy's Story as a Victim of Sex Trafficking.

The summer of 1975 changed Kevin Kline from an ordinary teenage boy living in a suburb of St. Louis into a child prostitute who was sold for sex to older, often abusive men on the streets of the inner city. The summer was full of violence, manipulation, naivete and even death, but it was also a time of friendship and survival. At its core, Faraway is a testament to the saving power of friendship and faith. Without the friendship of two other boys also being sold for sex, Kline would not have survived the summer, and without God watching over him, he would not have survived the years that followed.

Kevin (R.K.) Kline met co-author Daniel D. Maurer while attending Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. After reading through his friend's journals, Maurer encouraged Kline to share his experiences and bring awareness to the too-often taboo subject of male sex trafficking. As an experienced writer, Maurer helped Kline develop his stories into "Faraway." Through shedding light on his past, Kline has not only embraced the good he found within the tragedy, he has been able to pass on hope to others.

"Faraway" will be available everywhere books are sold on May 5, 2015.
