Fashion model and jewelry designer Misa Chien makes a splash this season in Target's new fall ad campaign, while preparing for the launch of her spring line from her vintage and art nouveau-inspired jewelry collection, Miss Misa.
    ATLANTA, GA, November 26, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- From jet setting to photo shoots in exotic places all over the world, to handcrafting prototypes for her jewelry line, Misa Chien plays both sides of the industry - and plays them well. While an increasing number of models are launching business ventures at the end of their modeling careers, Chien, at 22, and the prime of her career, has already begun planting the seeds for a successful fashion brand. Misa Chien first began collecting beads at the age of 10. A decade later, with just $50 in jewelry supplies, she began designing and selling her handcrafted jewelry on eBay. Within two months of launching her own e-commerce website, she had to secure a manufacturer to meet the demand. Since then, she's been featured in Entrepreneur and was recently one of 26 finalists out of 1,000 students in the Global Student Entrepreneur Award competition, presented by Mercedes-Benz Financial. A budding style-maven always on the go, she's currently in production on Miss Misa's spring collection, and preparing for the holiday sales rush.

Miss Misa's collections feature stunning, yet affordable vintage cocktail rings and necklaces, incorporating the floral and plant-inspired details and curvilinear forms of the art nouveau movement. From freshwater pearls to antique brash finishes, Chien uses a variety of materials to create colorful and unique designs that range from fun and trendy, to elegant and regal. One of the most popular items in her fall collection is the Art Nouveau Pansy Ring, rich in detail and perfect for any occasion. Miss Misa's spring collection will feature more art nouveau-inspired pieces, reminiscent of her recent travels in Prague.

In Chien's videos, she models her own designs and shares the stories and inspiration behind some of her favorite pieces.

"My modeling career and my career as a jewelry designer intersect all of the time," said Chien. "I've even had the opportunity to share my jewelry with stylists on photo shoots that I've done. Last year, after talking to one stylist, I got to wear my jewelry in a seven-page spread in Thirteen Minutes magazine."

Chien first signed with LA Models in 2007 and has since been featured in a number of ad campaigns including Abercrombie and Fitch, Mary Kay and most recently, Target. Her look is unique and versatile, with a global appeal, much like her jewelry collection.

"I get to travel the world as a model, and my jewelry is currently sold across the globe, it's really incredible," said Chien. "So far, my experience in the fashion industry has been amazing, and I know that there are even bigger and better milestones ahead of me."
