TORONTO, CANADA, August 09, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Canadian Short Screenplay Competition, the most prestigious screenwriting competition in Canada, recently premiered the first in a 7 part series of short commercials promoting both the competition's sense of humour and founding mantra: Short. Is. Better.

The series of dot spots are a first for the now three year old short movie writing script contest. They were inspired by an original static concept provided by marketing genius Bradley Cotton.

Competition Founder, David Cormican, says of the campaign, "I was looking for a way to take the initial idea (Cotton) put forward and make it move from a business card into something even more fun and tongue-in-cheek. Then the ideas kept flowing."

"I hope it (the campaign) captures the imaginations of writers everywhere and maybe even inspires a copy cat or two and for fans to come up with their own Short. Is. Better. spot(s)", says Cormican.

The first spot to premiere online was based on the classic Orsen Wells picture "Citizen Kane". The clever ad summarizes the famous film in less than a dozen words. Six additional ads, all 20 seconds or less, are set to be released one a week as part of the campaign over the course of the next several weeks and will be launched in tandem with the recently announced blog column on the CSSC site being penned by #WW Laureate Carolynne Ciceri.
