About Spread Betting: Financial Spread betting is one method of trading where traders can either go long (to buy) or short (to sell) for every point movement in an underlying market such as the FTSE 100. Gains from spread betting are currently tax-free in the United Kingdom and Ireland. This form of trading is very simple to execute and you can place a bet for as little as GBP1 per point movement on the FTSE 100. Your job is to correctly forecast the direction of the movement for the financial instrument (be it the FTSE or individual share...etc) If your judgement is correct and the price of the share goes up or down as you predicted, you make a profit. If the price goes in the opposite direction to what you predicted, you make a loss.
