Finding Einstein Finds Success on Amazon

One mom's journey through the complicated school system inspires parents.

"With so many children being disciplined in schools rather than receiving help, it's important that we share information in order to shift the narrative for our children."

LOS ANGELES, CA, November 14, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Finding Einstein: My IEP Journey, an easy-to-read self-help ebook for parents who have children with special needs, reached number one in its category during its first week of release. Penned by a former television executive, sitcom writer and mom, Lia Martin, the book is part memoir, part resources and is available on Amazon.com.

An IEP is the legal document that that details the special education services required for students who need them. This might include occupational therapy, psychological counseling, special equipment or behavioral support. Finding Einstein gives a very personal account of the steps Martin took to navigate the often complicated school system in order to create a successful program for her son. It was written to educate, support and empower parents.

The book emanates from Martin's blog posts and comedy routines about the hurdles she faced while trying to get her son an Individualized Education Program during kindergarten. According to Martin, "staff at my son's school seemed to think my 5 year-old son was strategically planning every academic failure and refused to help us." Eventually, she got her son placed in a better environment. But the experience prompted Martin to document her story so that others could learn from it. "Living through that trial made me think about all of the other parents whose children aren't getting what they need in school."

"Lia has done all the legwork to make the IEP process much simpler for you and your child. This practical, heartwarming book is a gift to all parents of children who color outside the lines," says Aimee Jannsohn, mother, author, marketing manager of The Pilgrim Press.

Finding Einstein will be available in paperback by December. Copies will be distributed to parenting organizations throughout California. "Sharing my journey is not just about me. I want to create an online community of parents and advocates who can support each other. With so many children being disciplined in schools rather than receiving help, it's important we share information in order to shift the narrative for our children."
