Fiona Fuerstner Honored by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in the Performing Arts

Fiona Fuerstner was accepted to the San Francisco Ballet at the age of 16

    MILWAUKEE, WI, October 21, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Fiona Fuerstner has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Fiona Fuerstner has always been passionate about ballet. A retired ballet company executive and educator, she has studied, worked, taught and performed both nationally and internationally. Ms. Fuerstner, who was born in Rio de Janeiro but grew up in San Francisco, was accepted to the San Francisco Ballet at the age of 16. During this time, she also trained at the Ballet Theatre School and the School of American Ballet in New York City. She also studied with the San Francisco Ballet, the Royal Ballet in London, and Ballet Rambert, also in London.

Early in her dancing career, Ms. Fuerstner was a soloist and principal dancer with the San Francisco Ballet. She toured with Walter Terry's American Dances before working as a principal dancer with the Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal, the American Choreographer's Company of New York, and the Pennsylvania Ballet. Ms. Fuerstner remained with the Pennsylvania Ballet as a ballet mistress and instructor, spending a total of 21 years with the company. She then became a ballet mistress and assistant to the artistic director of the Nashville Ballet. She spent 1990 to 2003 with the Milwaukee Ballet, serving as a ballet mistress and assistant to the artistic director.

In addition to these roles, Ms. Fuerstner performed and taught in various capacities in Florida, Pennsylvania, Texas, Kentucky, California, Tennessee, Michigan, Illinois, and more. Most recently, she was a guest teacher at the Monona Academy of Dance in Madison, Wis., a faculty teacher for danceworks Studio 1661 in Milwaukee, Wis., and a master teacher at the USDAN Center for the Creative and Performing Arts in Wheatley Heights, N.Y.

Ms. Fuestner's achievements were recognized when she was chosen to be featured in the 50th through 68th editions of Who's Who in America, the 3rd edition of Who's Who in Entertainment, the 27th through 42nd editions of Who's Who in the Midwest, the 32nd and 33rd editions of Who's Who in the World, and the 24th through 28th editions of Who's Who of American Women.
