/24-7PressRelease/ - LONDON, UK, October 28, 2006 - The regional disparities in the obligation towards stamp duty are further increasing the problems of first time buyers.
It is usual for the first time buyers to face common problems like budgetary deficit and lack of experience. First time buyers tackle these problems by taking first time buyer mortgages and the expert advice of property consultants.
A research from Council of Mortgage Lenders shows that three per cent of first-time buyers in the south evade paying stamp duty; the corresponding figure in the north of England being 83 per cent.
These startling statistics reveal the unequal burden of stamp duty being imposed upon the first time buyers in different regions.
Michael Coogan, the director general of the Council of Mortgage Lenders told that London stood out as the place where the vast majority of first-time buyers were paying significant levels of stamp duty.
Coogan further said that it was more urgent than ever for the Government to reform the current stamp duty structure.
