/24-7PressRelease/ -- In the summer of 2009, childhood friends Jordan Gaspar and Danika Charity founded Flatiron Kitchen, a boutique catering company specializing in New American cuisine. Flatiron Kitchen uses seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients to produce contemporary versions of classic favorites.
As custom caterers, Flatiron Kitchen offers unforgettable food, service and assistance planning special events. Services include; Cocktail Parties, Dinner Parties, Cooking Parties, Cooking Courses and a convenient Drop-off Service.
The duo co-hosted "Throw a Cocktail Party Like a Pro: Hostessing Workshop" along with Urban Girl Squad on Wednesday, January 13th, 2010 in the Broadway Party Rental Showroom in Soho.
Jordan presented helpful tips and tricks for planning a successful cocktail party including how to avoid common mistakes, how to add a special touch to a serving platter, creating a signature cocktail and when to consider renting supplies and hiring help for your event.
Danika led a cooking demonstration, preparing several hors d'oeuvres including mango chicken salad in wonton cups and tuna tartare served in Asian soup spoons. Guests also enjoyed samples of a Flatiron Kitchen favorite, southern pecan chocolate chip bread pudding bites with bourbon crème anglaise.

After practicing corporate law for several years and advising clients on mergers, acquisitions and public offerings, Jordan decided to turn her love of great food and wine into a career. Jordan's love of food is inspired by her extensive world travel as well as from the culinary arts she practices while entertaining in her own home in New York City. She has the unique ability to transform a client's initial concept into a magnificent, tangible culinary experience. Her creative approach to event planning and her dedication to aesthetic presentation have become synonymous with the Flatiron Kitchen experience.
Danika Charity, Executive Chef
After training in traditional French cuisine and patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, Danika worked at the Michelin starred gastronomic bistro Le Violon d'Ingres and Parisian mainstay L'Osteria, breaking solely to work as a private chef on the island of St Barth in the French West Indies. She has traveled all over the world learning about various culinary traditions and the methodology to incorporate these traditions into a new American cuisine. Through catering, Danika executes American food with classic French technique and nuances of ethnic flavors.
