/24-7PressRelease/ - HOWELL, MI, March 29, 2007 - There's a bright spot in the Michigan economy and it has plenty of student pilots sitting on cloud nine. Michigan's Cessna Pilot Centers have gone glass! Glass refers the new Garmin G1000
glass cockpit that feature dual flat-panel displays and include moving map GPS, weather, and traffic just for starters. American Wings Academy in Flint, MI at Flint's Bishop International Airport is the latest Cessna Pilot Center to add glass cockpit training to its curriculum.
"The aviation industry is facing a tremendous pilot shortage over the next several years," remarked Ken Johnson, owner of
American Wings Academy in Flint. "We're training tomorrow's commercial pilots in the very best equipped airplanes
available."
The glass cockpit is the most significant development in general aviation in years. The Garmin G1000 is the most capable
integrated avionics system and is leading the transition. General and commercial aviation pilots will be flying this glass
system for years to come. The system has the capability to greatly improve safety by providing more reliable and redundant instrumentation and better situational awareness.
"This new Cessna Skyhawk is easy to learn in and just so much fun to fly!" exclaimed Johnson. "It's hard to believe that this
is a training airplane!"
American Wings Academy is a full service Pilot Training Center and offers Discovery Flights in their new Glass Panel Skyhawk.
