/24-7PressRelease/ - CHARLOTTE, NC, April 26, 2008 - Florence Crittenton Services, Inc. (FCS) is proud to announce it's 14th annual Lucille P. Giles Community Award Luncheon. This community award fundraiser will take place on Tuesday, April 29th at Myers Park United Methodist Church (1501 Queens Road). The program will begin at 11:45 AM inside Jubilee Hall.
The annual event celebrates the selfless efforts of an individual who has assisted FCS in its goal to aid high-risk single pregnant and non-pregnant young women in becoming self-reliant. This year's recipient of the coveted Lucille P. Giles Community Award is DeWitt F. "Mac" McCarley, City Attorney for the City of Charlotte. Since 1994, McCarley's tireless efforts have been to promote health and hope for tomorrow's youth. McCarley has exemplified an unswerving commitment to philanthropy and activism through his dedicated service as a former Board Member, past Board Chair and current Board of Advisors Chair.

"He (McCarley) has been a champion of our organization and we feel the Lucille P. Giles Community Award is certainly befitting to such a supporter. In addition to great food, attendees will also have the satisfaction of knowing their contributions will support our efforts to raise funds for life-changing opportunities for women and children in need." Today, Florence Crittenton Services is a private non-profit 501 (c) 3 agency dedicated to helping our most vulnerable young mothers and their babies. Since its inception, FCS has served over 37,000 women and children. FCS is unique among the state's residential facilities, as it is the largest agency that provides both pre-natal and post-natal residential services for at risk teenage young women. Without the agency's presence and open-door policy to the highest risk pregnancies and complex life situations, this group of young girls and women would have no place to go and little hope for themselves and their babies.
